Model averaging estimation of generalized linear models with imputed covariates

چکیده
We address the problem of estimating generalized linear models when some covariate values aremissing but imputations are available to fill-in the missing values. This situation generates a bias-precision tradeoff in the estimation of the model parameters. Extending the generalized missing-indicator method proposed by Dardanoni et al. (2011) for linear regression, we handle this trade-off as a problem of model uncertainty using Bayesian averaging of classical maximum likelihood estimators (BAML). We also propose a blockmodel averaging strategy that incorporates information on themissing-data patterns and is computationally simple. An empirical application illustrates our approach. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Bayesian Model Averaging for Generalized Linear Models with Missing Covariates
We address the problem of estimating generalized linear models (GLMs) when the outcome of interest is always observed, the values of some covariates are missing for some observations, but imputations are available to fill-in the missing values. Under certain conditions on the missing-data mechanism and the imputation model, this situation generates a trade-off between bias and precision in the ...
متن کاملMaximum Likelihood Estimation of Parameters in Generalized Functional Linear Model
Sometimes, in practice, data are a function of another variable, which is called functional data. If the scalar response variable is categorical or discrete, and the covariates are functional, then a generalized functional linear model is used to analyze this type of data. In this paper, a truncated generalized functional linear model is studied and a maximum likelihood approach is used to esti...
متن کاملBayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models
In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...
متن کاملAn Application of Linear Model in Small Area Estimationof Orange production in Fars province
Methods for small area estimation have been received great attention in recent years due to growing demand for reliable small area estimation that are needed in development planings, allocation of government funds and marking business decisions. The key question in small area estimation is how to obtain reliable estimations when sample size is small. When only a few observations(or even no o...
متن کاملParameter Estimation in Spatial Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Skew Gaussian Random Effects using Laplace Approximation
Spatial generalized linear mixed models are used commonly for modelling non-Gaussian discrete spatial responses. We present an algorithm for parameter estimation of the models using Laplace approximation of likelihood function. In these models, the spatial correlation structure of data is carried out by random effects or latent variables. In most spatial analysis, it is assumed that rando...
